Paivi is now about 7 years old. She was found in 2016 as a puppy in Kosovo. Like many dogs, she was not vaccinated and caught Distemper. Paivi survived the disease miraculously, but not without consequences. She had problems with her nervous system, resulting in ticks and shaking at a young age. Now it can only be seen when she is sleeping and munching her mouth. Four years ago, Paivi stayed at a pension with other dogs, including Meda and Tuzla. The pension caught fire, resulting in the deaths of many dogs, including Meda. Meda's Run was actually named after this horrible incident. Only Tuzla and Paivi survived. No one knows how. The two were terribly burned and scar tissue still covers the right side of Paivi's body. But she recovered again and now shares a compound with the šarplaninac dogs. Paivi is still very much afraid of fire and smoke. It reminds her of the past.
